Write killer, SEO-friendly web content that gets you clicks and clients!
1. FIND YOUR TOPIC
First, find something you are passionate about. Is there a particular side of life coaching that you recently discovered or feel the coaching community needs to know about? If you truly enjoy writing about a subject that will come through to your audience, and they will read every last word!
It is also important to find a phrase that people naturally search for so Google: “Keyword Research Tool” and click on the first result. Type in a phrase like “Wheel of Life” and pick a related keyword phrase to use as the Anchor of your title.
For example, typing in “Wheel of Life” gave me all these great story topics:
- buddhist wheel of life
- wheel of life symbol
- shaolin wheel of life dvd
- balance wheel of life
- wheel of enlightenment
2. CRAFT THE PERFECT TITLE
Fortunately this one is easy. Once you have your topic, a tantalizing formula that readers cannot resist clicking is:
Top/Secret “Number” Tips + Keyword Phrase Anchor
For example:
“Top 4 Tips to Fill Out Your Buddhist Wheel of Life”
or
“5 Secret Messages in the Shaolin Wheel of Life DVD”
or
“8 Killer Tips to Balance Your Wheel of Life”
3. CONTENT IS KING
250 words is the minimum to satisfy the search engines. But as long as you are writing quality, the more the merrier! Aiming at 500 words produces the best results. Google is a feedback loop, the longer people spend reading your article, the more authoritative the article is viewed, the higher it goes in the search results and the more traffic it receives. Bonus points if your article is so authoritative that people link to it as a reference!
4. FOR BEST FLAVOR, LIGHTLY SPRINKLE
Remember that Keyword Anchor Phrase that we took time selecting in step 1? We are going to drop variations of it 2-5 times throughout your content. Good rule of thumb is maximum once every hundred words and it is better at the start or end of individual paragraphs.
For example if we had decided to write about the “Buddhist Wheel of Life” our sprinkles may include:
1. Buddhism and the Wheel of Life…
2. In Buddhism, the wheel of life was….
3. The Wheel of Life and Buddhist Monks were often at odds…
You can get creative here but make sure to keep the rearrange the phrase (keeping it together once per article is fine) and to not over do it (max once per hundred words).
5. PLACEMENT IS KEY
So you have your SEO-friendly article written, but where can you submit it so that it gets found? It is important to note that search engines frown on duplicitous content. So submitting the same article in more than one location wont help you much. In fact, it may even get all versions tossed out of the search index. Making different versions of an article is a possibility. Just make sure they contain at least 40% fresh content that can not be found anywhere else on the internet.
For best results post on high traffic, targeted sites like http://ezine.com, http://www.squidoo.com or here on Noomii.com with a professional coach account.
Using these 5 tips can help you write articles that get you maximum exposure through Google and drive referral traffic back to your personal page or Noomii ProCoach Listing.
Remember, the key to all of this begins with passion. Pick a topic that you passionately WANT to write about and people will WANT to read what you have to say.
