Homeostasis versus pursuit of something

Juggling priorities, commitments, goals and life at the same time ..
We are all in pursuit of something – growing one’s career, gaining more wealth, better relationships with friends and family, health and fitness and so on. I am in pursuit of multiple of these, and I believe it may be the same for most individuals. However, we might not be able to pursue all of it to the extent that we’d like it to be, due to various reasons – time, opportunity, circumstances, etc. Ever got the thought that you have your leg in too many boats ? Exactly what I was hinting at! As I was reflecting upon my priorities and time management, I realized that my priorities and the actual commitments were slightly off from where I wanted to see it, versus where it was in reality. Have you done a similar reflection for yourself? If yes, please do share your thoughts / experiences.
Juggling multiple priorities is comparable to multi-tasking. We risk spreading ourselves too thin across all of them and, as a consequence, not progressing to a satisfactory extent in some or multiple. More so in today’s time, when COVID seems to have erased boundaries between the various aspects of life! But if we know where we are versus where we would like to be and how we’d like to tackle each of them, some priorities will naturally take a front seat in the journey and others take a back seat, or even a different train altogether. Knowing which ones you’d like to put on that priority for progression, and which ones you are comfortable with status quo can provide clarity and the ability to focus on the journey to each one’s utopian end. However, is that end a static one ? Another pit stop to ponder on – have you given your priorities / goals some thought?
I am inspired by many books, the most recent one being “Think Again” by Adam Grant. Wonderfully structured, covering various aspects of our biases, confidence, competence, identities and our relationship with them. As I think again about the various aspects and approaches to life, I believe a good crutch would be to see how our commitments and priorities fit into time and effort management, and work on how to nurture each of them over a period, before thinking / re-evaluating again.
Some things for me in pursuit at the moment : balanced time with family, sustainability purpose, purposeful thinking. Are you thinking about your pursuits and commitments?
