One of my favorite quotes comes from the author Stephen R. Covey:
Sow a thought, reap an action;
Sow an action, reap a habit;
Sow a habit, reap a character;
Sow a character, reap a destiny.
A farmer sows seeds into the ground with the expectation of eventually reaping a crop. Sowing and reaping is a law of the natural world, but it’s more than just an agricultural principal. You may have heard the axiom, “You reap what you sow.” This principal can work both positively and negatively. We will focus on the positive. For example, some people value driving a great car. I have observed them spending hours of time and energy finding this car, making the monthly payments, and providing upkeep to keep it looking nice. This possession requires regular car washes and even cautious parking everywhere it is taken. The car is treated with the upmost respect and value. This is all a very good thing! Yet, when it comes to taking care of a person’s own health- be it physical, emotional, or spiritual- some people take better care of their new car or other belongings than they do themselves. Your value and worth far surpass any possession, and you are irreplaceable. Your quality of life and outlook on life are worth sowing into! Take some time to invest into yourself and sow into your future today.
