Depressed?

This is a short article I wrote when I was starting a blog on Hope.
“I am depressed.” This is the favorite line of many people nowadays. If we scratch a bit and go beyond the surface, what we will discover is that people have lost, to a certain degree, the sense of hope.
Hope keeps us going. Hope energizes us while the lack of it paralyzes us. Some people have lost hope about their marriage lasting for another year or getting a good job, or overcoming a defect. They would think, “If something won’t work, why even try?” But we need first to look on how much we have tried before we could call it quits.
Many times, the solution to the problem is to keep on hoping and not to give up. Miss Sullivan hoped that Helen Keller could outdo herself in spite her limitations, Dorothy Day hoped that her life could change for the better even after an abortion and 2 failed love relationships, St. Monica hoped for 19 years that her son will get converted one day. See the power of HOPE?
