Kick Fear and Doubt to the Curb

One of my mentor/coaches, Kendall SummerHawk, says that “fear and doubt are never truth”. Think about that for a moment. Isn’t that a wonderful statement? And it really is true. When you are in a place of fear and doubt, you are allowing that little inner chatterbox to run off its’ mouth. Not only are you hearing those messages loud and clear, but when your business is not doing as well as you would like, you may start to believe them. Coming from a place of fear or doubt feels terrible and it manifests as the results (or lack thereof) that you are creating.
Doubt shows up in many forms. You may feel that you don’t know enough, are not smart enough, need more time to tweak your offers, must get your website up first and on and on and on. Day in and day out, you find yourself caught up in busy work that gets you nowhere by the end of the day. You have difficulty focusing on what you need to do next. Perhaps you doubt that anyone would pay for your services or that you can attract clients to you.
Fear shows up as worry about what people will think of you or say about you. Or that you will not be successful. Perhaps you fear becoming successful and the perceived responsibilities that will impose on you. You often spend so much time fretting about your offers and whether anyone will sign up that you get caught up in the drama and never really put yourself or your offers out there.
Do I have fear and doubt? Absolutely! I am coaching clients about their mo.ney mindset, which is not always a happy or popular topic. Some people have mistaken me for someone who is trying to sell the next “get rich quick scheme”! But, I know that creating a healthy mo.ney mindset is extremely important, particularly for women, and helping with that is more important to me than the opinions of others.
When you are struggling, it is so easy to fall victim to the bright shiny object syndrome where you are constantly trying to find the next thing you need to succeed. While you may or may not find some helpful information, I have something very important to share with you. Turn off the little chatterbox and really let what I am about to share sink in. There is no magic pill, thinking positive thoughts without taking action does not produce results and continually doubting yourself is costing you clients!
If you want your business to be a success, you can create that. But you need to believe in yourself, your ability to do it and you have to take action despite all the fear and doubt. Everything that you need is already inside you. Yes, there may be additional skills or resources that you require, but they are easily attainable. Do not be fearful to reach out for help. Take a course, read books or get coaching!
Be open and honest with yourself about the skills and resources that you need, but stop beating yourself up. Get out of your head and into action. Get your offers out there. Your truth is waiting.
