What's the Message?

It's important to feel what you're feeling but the message of the general culture's cliches is just the opposite.
It wasn’t until I was a mature adult that I heard the idea of feeling your feelings. When I share it with clients, it’s welcomed but new, something they’ve not been exposed to.
Why is that? Shouldn’t this important idea be shared earlier on in life?
Just give a listen to some of the common cliches we hear and repeat. “Try to not let it get you down” “Shake it off” “It was tough but I’m trying to move on”. The general culture is sharing a message: It’s not good to feel what you’re currently feeling, move on from it as quickly as you can.
