According to The Balance Career – 80% of professionals consider professional networking to be important to career success. 35% of surveyed professionals say that a casual conversation on LinkedIn Messaging has led to a new opportunity.
It’s safe to say that the job market will take some time to recover. With vacancy numbers low now is the time to accept (if you haven’t already) that networking in to your next job is your next step.
1. You can start by making sure you know what you want? What is you end goal?
2. Be sure to be helping your network, pass on contacts or any vacancies you have heard of that might be useful to contacts.
3. Keep in touch, this is the best way to keep your network.
4. Think about what you ask for. Be clear but be courteous, sometimes asking for a bit of advice can get you more helpful information.
5 Be polite and do take some time away from Social Media. A Job Search can be as much work as a full time role, taking a break can be essential! Don’t feel bad about taking that time away.
