This article addresses the question: do you need a therapist or a life coach?
A true turning point or daybreak experience takes place when we realize and surrender to the fact that we need help, additional assistance. As a life coach I know how important that moment is. The coach-client exchange begins there and not a moment before nor after. It’s only when people understand that they are in need of assistance will the assistance manifest or make its way to them. The life coach is that assistance. In many more instances than I think people realize. I recently penned that I wish I had used the services of a life coach in the place of the years of therapy and counseling that I got. A life coach would have helped me progress, attain and acquire so much more so much faster. I say that with many miles of rough road in my rear view mirror. I tend to be a very linear thinker. It works so much easier for me to embrace a roadmap with a starting point and a destination vs. one with a lot of twists and turns and detours no matter how vital those twists and turns and detours might be-or might have been. None-the-less. It’s taken me more than 10 years to realize that a life coach had the resolutions to my issues in much more practical ways than my therapist did. Not to throw shade on my therapists. So going back to my opening statements, knowing when we need help is crucial but knowing the type of help we need provides benefits on so many more levels, in my opinion and experience. I believe it all boils down to asking one question. At this point in my life do I need be rescued or guided. Do I need inner healing or a solid blue print to move forward? I can say honestly and truly as a ‘would be coaching client,’ the blue print would have been more beneficial. Whatever healing I needed would have been facilitated upon having and maintaining a laser focus on my goals. I am a big proponent of healing but I also believe that for many people-people like me, healing happens and miracles manifest while we are in motion.
