ABC can help you to prepare for when the pandemic pause eventually ends. Here are some ideas about how you can use the "pause" productively.
Life on Pause
It has been many months since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the United States. I know it feels longer. The “pause” caused by the pandemic has allowed us to take inventory of those things and people who are important to us. Pause means suspension or break, however, we know that it is not a permanent way of life. How has the "pause " affected you? The virus has uprooted our lives as we know it, but all is not lost. Are you actively preparing for when limitations are lifted and it is safe to interact with people face to face again? Here are some ideas about how you can use the “pause” productively.
Taking the Next Step
Coaching is one way to seek a different path for yourself. Perhaps you are now working online, which has become your new normal. Returning to a physical work location may bring some strong feelings either positive or negative. Many people are deciding to reevaluate their careers in the context of COVID-19 and the current work environment. If you are one of them, you may benefit from assistance from a coach in determining your next steps and what you want in your future career.
After self-reflection and reevaluation, the next step is to prepare for the future by taking action. This process includes shifting your perspective to pursue opportunities that are available to you. A coach can help you put your plans into action by helping you design concrete goals and follow through with your planned actions to ensure desired results.
The Coach Who Took the Next Step
One of the tenets of evidence-based coaching is that the coach who self-reflects better assists their clients in defining and developing their own motives for change. By doing this self-reflective work, a coach is better able to guide their clients through the coaching process.
During this “pause” in my life, I revised my website to better clarify and hone my practice. As I went through the exercise of revising my website, I essentially wrote my own job description. I realized that I could offer coaching sessions for individuals or small groups online rather than in-person thanks to applying self-reflective practices. The “pause” allowed me to take the time to practice yoga, which enhanced my kinesthetic attunement skills. By enhancing my skills in this way, I am now better able to assist my clients in understanding their kinesthetic and somatic experiences. Going through this process allowed me to define my future career in the context of COVID-19, and will help me guide others to do the same.
