Living in the Light

Has the draining energy of comparisons left you in a space of self-doubt? Living in the light can help you change that.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
Nature has become my silent teacher. Listening to the rhythm of pulsating Earth has shown me how to live in the light. There is no pretense in the natural world. The sun does not try to compete with the moon, or a garden laden with roses does not try to steal the glory from a patch of daffodils or a rambling wisteria vine. Each plant, tree, and planet hums their own life song in a visual symphony, without judging the beauty or relevance of the other’s melody.
As humans, we can become fixated on the desired attributes we do not have, and end up feeling as if we are less than. At times, we don’t cherish our life song and the precious beauty of our unique, God-given light. We can diminish and belittle ourselves and even those around us. But nature tells us a different story. Every flower and plant arches toward the sun, to the source that gives them life. They actively seek what is good and beneficial. There are no self-judgments, no doubts, no struggles with unworthiness, only acceptance of what they are and what they need to survive—the light.
Scripture tells us to let our light shine, not to hide it. Nature whispers this truth to our souls as well. Peace comes from seeking the Loving Light that surrounds us and is within. And humility, trust, and love are the things that keep us on that sacred path.
Prayer & Meditation
Beautiful God show us how to shine our light in the world. Help us to embrace the unique Godprint on our lives without comparisons or judgments, knowing we were made on purpose, for Your loving purpose. Amen.
