The Mystic Brain Freeze

The difference between pain and suffering, and how it can change your reality.
The body is an unbelievable creation. One of its many unique characteristics is that we are able to feel pain and simultaneously not suffer. For suffering is in the mind, whereas pain is in the body. This is an important distinction and a core principle in the Mystic Life Coaching Approach.
Take for example Sarah. Sarah is drinking an iced drink very quickly – and will most likely get a brain freeze. Now, while this brain freeze is very painful, Sarah is so distracted by the tastiness of the drink that not only does she not suffer, she actually continues to drink more (inflicting more pain on herself). Because her desire to taste the iced drink is so strong, she does not suffer from the pain.
More often than not, we are afraid to deal with our emotions. The pain of our emotions seeps into our minds and causes us to suffer. Without redirecting this process, our pain and suffering become intermingled. And let’s face it, it’s much easier popping some pills or narcotics to numb ourselves rather than dealing with things. Even binge-watching TV series is a numbing agent. The problem is… it eventually (or quickly) catches up on us.
We start releasing our emotions at unexpected times and at sorry victims, including ourselves.
So now the question is, how do we work through our emotions without letting them take over us or without feeling completely overwhelmed?
First of all, it is important to know that we are not our emotions. We are each a beautiful, complex human being and the faculty of emotions is merely one part of our makeup. Furthermore, the faculty of emotions can be seen as a very powerful tool that we need to handle with care; it is a tool that we need to control (to the best of our ability), otherwise it will control us.
To control our emotions requires the know-how, effort and a strong desire. In my experience, the majority of adults were not taught the know-how growing up and correspondingly do not teach the know-how to their children. So while modern society promotes psychology and pop psychology, it’s much easier to numb ourselves than learn the know-how and put in the effort. But as we said above, this approach does not work. And this is why coaching and therapy is so popular today, because unless a person is really in control of his/her emotions, he/she will need assistance. Assistance being someone trusting who sees things from a different perspective. Due to the fact that our faculty of emotion is so closely tied up with our makeup as a human, it’s nearly impossible to be objective with our own emotions.
Through the Mystic Life Coaching Approach, I offer the know-how on a very personal and practical level. If you put in the effort and have the desire (much like Sarah has the desire to drink her tasty iced drink despite the bodily pain of the brain freeze), then you are well on your way to find clarity, peace and inner truth in your life.
