Fourth Quarter Rally!

As we enter the final quarter of 2020, remember that you can always overcome a slow start with a strong finish!
It was November 10, 2019, and the Cleveland Browns were on a four-game losing streak. They were playing at home that Sunday, and their opponents, the Buffalo Bills, were in the lead 16-12 with 5:25 left on the clock. By all accounts, it didn’t look good for the Browns.
But it was at that moment that the Browns surprised their fans and rallied, coming back with a game-winning drive that resulted in a dramatic 19-16 victory over the Bills!
Before I go on here, I must confess that I am not a football enthusiast.
However, I can still hear my father, a professional armchair quarterback, excitedly yelling orders at the television while I was growing up.
Sometimes, he’d be complaining, “Oh man, they are giving up! Don’t give up! There is a lot of time still left on the clock!”
When I’d hear this, I’d think, “How strange. Why would they give up before the end of the game?” And to me, it was just a game, so I couldn’t really fathom why players wouldn’t give it their all until the very end.
But many times, my dad would be elatedly shouting things like, “Oh my God, he caught it! Wow!” or “Interception!” or “Go, go, go, go, go! Touchdown!” This is when I’d hurry over to the T.V. to watch the action unfold.
And when it was a game-winning drive, like the Browns’ win last November, I was glued to the television set just as much as my dad.
Everyone loves a comeback story, right?
Whether you are a sports fan or not, there is an important lesson to learn here: It pays to finish your fourth quarter strong!
And so now that we are entering the final quarter of 2020, I encourage you to keep this in mind. Many upset games were not necessarily won by skill, but by perseverance. The teams simply didn’t give up. They kept believing in their dream, even when there was lots of evidence to the contrary.
You can always overcome a slow start with a strong finish!
So, with this in mind, you are unauthorized to pass over the next few months in your brain and start talking about how 2021 is going to be a better year! I mean, it certainly can be, but there is still time left on the clock. It’s too soon to move on to the next game!
What if you doubled your efforts and took massive action in this fourth quarter?
What if you stayed the course and committed fully until there’s no time left on the clock?
I encourage you to stay in belief, work steadfast on your goals, and kick some butt in the next three months!
Seriously, let’s do this!
PS – I’d love to hear about your fourth quarter plan. If you are so inclined, message me and let me know what you are up to!
