Let Go Of The Past

Sometimes letting go can be tough, but necessary. Here is an example why its important.
If you are ever in the mood to catch a monkey, the legend is take a coconut and bore it out, put food in it, and wait for a monkey to stick its hand in there to pull out the food. Supposedly, the monkey will grab it with its fist and hold tight while trying to pull it out. The monkey’s hand is trapped in the coconut, and won’t let go of the food in order to free its hand. Once trapped, the hunter moves in to catch the monkey. Whether or not this is true, it’s a good lesson to learn about when to let go. Often times when we hold on to things, ideas, relationships, and bad habits, or carry a grudge from the past that keeps up from moving forward. They can become destructive, unhealthy or out of date and ultimately distract us from what we want to accomplish. At the time all we are focused on is “what’s in the coconut,” not what the consequences will be. So, my challenge to you is review the things, ideas, relationships, and habits you have that just might be time to give up that seem to get in the way.
