Learning to balance: undoing routine.
I get up.
I go to the bathroom.
I brush my teeth.
I put on clothes.
I eat.
I go to work.
I watch tv and play with my phone.
I sleep.
I get up.
I go to the bathroom.
I brush my teeth.
I put on clothes.
I eat.
I go to work.
I come home.
I watch tv and play with my phone.
I sleep.
I get up.
I CURSE getting up.
I go to the bathroom.
I brush my teeth.
I HATE going to work.
I put on my clothes.
I run out the door eating my breakfast.
I DON’T WANT to go to work.
I go to work.
I DON’T WANT to talk to my colleagues.
I DON’T WANT to do what I’m told.
I DON’T taste my food.
I DON’T SLEEP!
I get up……
I hope this doesn’t sound like your life. It sounded like mine. Everything was a chore. All the positive energy my friends and family gave me turned into criticism and judgment – mostly of myself.
I was left with my thoughts and my thoughts grew dark.My friendships dwindled. Before they left, they begged me to snap out of it, but how?
Someone tells you to change your life…where do you start?
You’re told to “shape up or ship out!”…what do you do?
Just start somewhere. Change something easy.
✅When you’re reaching for the door, pause and open the door with the other hand…laugh at yourself how uncoordinated you are.
Then change something else…
✅After you finish looking at your phone, put it in the other pocket…let yourself freak out for a moment as you think you’ve lost your phone.
Then change something else…
✅Put the other sock on first.
✅Put on your pants, socks and shoes before you put on your shirt.
You’re the only witness to your mistakes…how much do they affect your life?
Keep challenging yourself to find little ways to tweak your routine, and see if you don’t suddenly realize you’ve forgotten that you were in such a funk.
