Strengths and Purpose Interview questions
Because of cognitive distortion, it can be difficult to see oneself objectively. If you throw in some shame, it can be darn near impossible to recognize your own strengths and gifting. Knowing your gifts can help with work tasks, delegation of responsibilities, relationship alignment and moving you forward towards a fulfilling life.
Ask a friend who you trust and feel that knows you well to take 20 minutes to answer a few questions. You may want to tell them something like this, “the purpose of this is to get a clearer understanding of my gifts, abilities and purpose. As a close friend, your honest feedback will be most helpful to me. “ If you cannot meet in person, Skype, Zoom or do this over the phone. It can be a good idea to email the questions ahead of time if possible. Take notes and look for patterns.
Here is a list of suggested questions. Feel free to edit or add to the list as you see fit.
1. When have you seen me most alive and engaged?
2. What challenges have you been impressed to watch me overcome?
3. What have you learned from me?
4. What is special about me?
5. What skills do you think I have?
6. What makes me unique?
7. What inspires you about me?
8. Why do you value our relationship?
9. What is one of your favorite memories from our time together?
10. What do you believe my gift to the world is?
