My Life Would Be Perfect If...

Posted on July 09, 2020 by Veronica Boaz, One of Thousands of Life Coaches on Noomii.

My life would be perfect if the people around me would do exactly what I tell them... It will never happen. So what do you do?

How often does what you are trying to accomplish appears straight forward but people get in the way? How often have you said to yourself, “I wish people would just do what I tell them. It would be so much easier.” I can tell you that if everyone did exactly what you told them to do, you’d hate it. There would no variety, no creativity and no surprises in your life. How many times have you laughed and enjoyed the surprises that have come from the people you love?

People with their unique talents, unique approaches are what makes everything we do have value. The real challenge is to accept that uniqueness and make it work for you and for each individual around you. We live in a deficit society. It begins when we first go to school and continues throughout our lives. We aren’t smart enough, not good-looking enough, rich enough, thin enough and so on. Over and over, the message is that we are not enough. The fact is, we are. Those people who appear to be lacking what they need so that you need to tell them what to do, may have unique gifts that can help you.

We live and work with talented people everyday. Instead of leveraging what they are good at, we force them into trying to improve areas where they simply do not have any talent. We tell them what they need to do.

So, what do we do instead?

Why not discover what people are really good at and have them do more of it? Why not think of ways their strengths can complement yours?

People aren’t perfect –but I wouldn’t want them to be.
