Other than being a driving force, motivation also serves as a catalyst for confidence.
When you are confident about doing something, you are also clearly motivated by your source of confidence. In short, you’re more motivated to do something when you know you can do it. Self-confidence starts with being able to grasp what your capabilities are. Your confidence will grow as you recognize more of your abilities. To begin, here’s how to let motivation earn you confidence:
Have the Right Mindset
Your state of mind is very important in gaining confidence. Try this simple exercise: take a clear glass and fill it to the middle and then ask yourself if you think the glass is half empty or half full. It’s a bit tricky and quite intimidating. There’s no wrong answer here. It’s all about whether or not you perceive things in a positive or negative way. If you look at the glass as half empty, you are seeing the negative side of things. On the other hand, if you see the glass as half full, your point of view is clearly more positive as you are keeping in mind that the glass still has more room to receive. Confidence stems from the same concept. If you see things negatively, your confidence is bound to spiral downward; but if you look at things positively, you’re up for success.
Change for the Better
Being motivated doesn’t happen magically or overnight. It’s accompanied by lots of changes. These changes are necessary to help satisfy the need for confidence as well as determination and commitment. Don’t be intimidated by any changes; it’s only a matter of time before you get used to them. Remember that it’s for the better.
Start Slowly but Surely
Motivate yourself with your brimming confidence. Start small and gradually level up. Being optimistic and open to change doesn’t come easily. Optimism and openness come with the price of letting go of your past habits. It takes a lot of will power to do that. Keep in mind that the only constant in this world is change. The people who fail to adapt to these changes are the ones who don’t go very far. On the other hand, those who are optimistic, confident, and open to these changes can achieve the best of what life has in store for those willing to go the extra mile.
