Conditioned by years of getting things done, creating action plans, project plans, meeting deadlines, what are you doing now with all this time?
Conditioned by years of getting things done, creating action plans, project plans, meeting deadlines, ticking things off our to-do lists and having go-no-go meetings it should not come as a surprise if you are paralyzed by all this legislated free time. We have lived in a hurry-up culture so long that having a spare five minutes can feel like water torture. The waiting, the uncertainty and the unknowing can result in procrastination, not yet, not now, I will do it once this is all over behaviour. Whatever it is you are waiting to do or start, do you know what you are waiting for? Assuming you and your loved ones are healthy and safe if you are filling your time trying to find things to fill your time, be grateful for it instead and watch how your circumstances start to change.
Take this as proof the universe is listening to you. How many times have you said the words, “there are not enough hours in the day”, “I just didn’t have time”, “if only I had one more hour in the day”? Well, here is your hour and possibly plenty of them. There is an answer to the question of how to fill your time. However, if you are trying to answer it using your conscious mind you will keep going round and round in circles. Your conscious mind does not have the answer and I know that because if it did you would already be doing it.
The subconscious mind can process 20,000,000 bits of information per second. The conscious mind can only process 40 bits of information a second. Which processor would you rather use to tackle your big problems? The conundrum is that to access all that sweet processing power you need to stop using your conscious mind altogether, be still, let your subconscious do its thing uninterrupted without judgement or attachment. Sit quietly, meditate, just listen to what comes up. Use this gift of time to listen to your inner wisdom. Accept you have been given the gift of time and be compassionate to yourself when you feel like you are not doing it right and then just be grateful. Be more grateful than you have ever been before because this is your chance to let your limitless wisdom direct your decisions. I have two very simple and free meditations on my website, give them a try, who knows you might find the answer you are looking for.
