Being intentional with your life simply means taking responsibility for the decisions you make every single day.
Exactly what does it mean to live intentionally? Being intentional with your life simply means taking responsibility for the decisions you make every single day. It can be very easy to go through the day without paying attention, making the same decisions today that you made yesterday. We often find ourselves falling into habits and making decisions on autopilot. To live with intention means to do the opposite of that. It means making deliberate choices. Here are some tips to help you get started.
Find Your Purpose
It is easier to live with intention, when you know your purpose. This is not as hard as it sounds. Knowing your purpose can simply mean defining a philosophy for living. What is most important to you? Make a list of what you value. For example, are your relationships really important to you? Then be sure to include making and growing personal connections in your daily activities. Do you really want a promotion at work? Make sure you are making promotable decisions every day. When you take time to decide what’s most important to you, you are more likely to live with those values in mind.
Make A List Of Your Goals
Once you’ve decided on your purpose, you can make a list of goals to help you live according to this philosophy. Having goals in mind gives you guidelines for moving forward. You’ll have a plan, and that will help you move in a direction that is in line with your values.
Notice Your Opportunities
It’s important to know that each new day gives you an opportunity to make changes. You may not be happy with where you are right now, but you have the chance to take baby steps and make small changes toward reaching your goals. Living intentionally requires noticing the opportunities before you and taking chances to get what you want.
Practice Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful concept when it comes to living a life of intention. Acknowledging the good things you have right now lets you build upon that foundation. Being thankful for what you have puts you in a mindset to pursue more good things. You’ll soon discover you’re no longer coming from a place of lack. Instead, you’ll feel more content and optimistic about the possibilities that life can bring.
Live Authentically
Finally, it’s important that you live according to your priorities. Make sure you’re being true to yourself. Living intentionally means that you know who you are. You’re not pretending to be someone you think others want you to be. Keeping your purpose and values in mind will help to be sure the actions you take are in sync with who you truly are and where you want to go.
Living with intention takes a great deal of introspection and self-awareness. Take time to consider your priorities, goals, and values in order to be sure you’re living a life that means something to YOU.
