The Inspiring Story of a Taxi Driver

Let’s get inspired!

Few days ago, while trying to get a taxi early morning during a business trip in Dubai, a Lexus taxi driver stopped politely and assured me that he knows the location of my destination . He provided me a reasonable price for the ride so I thought why not and agreed to ride with him. Normal so far… he welcomed me politely in his car, asking me if I am comfortable and pleasantly opened many subjects without being curious or asking about personal details. It made me feel like I’m having a VIP taxi service.

Out of curiosity, I asked the driver if he is happy with his work especially that I noticed that he is genuinely smiling and laughing, and…what came after this question shocked me.

The person had primary education, he worked with the army of his original country, then moved to Dubai for better financial income and worked in one of the security services company, until he suddenly decided to change his life, knowing inside that he can do much better. Being so intuitive, he needed some kind of mentoring and guidance, therefore he started to read and read, many famous books (he named few of them) concerning the personal development and mind changing, then started to brainstorm what he really loves to do in his life. After a long process he wrote this sentence “I like to drive and talk”!!! this statement made him make a major shift to be “a taxi driver”, he got his driving license and started his new type of work that he loves.

Well that is not the whole story if you thought so! the man had a bigger plan, and he was very keen to realize it. 40 Dirhams a day changed the game, he started to saved 40 AED every single day from his daily income while keep covering all his expenses and the family obligations with the rest of that little income. He kept doing that daily for three years (1,095 days) without missing a day, until he saved 43,800 AED…. He was able to purchase his own car and started to work for himself- that car I was in feeling as VIP traveler-. This move increased his income dramatically, and being very discipline with his saving strategy, he owns now 4 cars with his cousins working as drivers for him, generating more and more income! And the next plan is to increase that number to 20 cars. You can imagine where this person can reach in the coming 10 years!

Listening to that story and knowing that he also was able to provide very high education to his kids while making his dream becoming a reality, was unspeakably inspiring. I was speechless listening to a real story from the person him self with all the expression of happiness, faith and gratitude on his face!

We hear and read many stories about giants who made it to be billionaires or influencers or world’s changers ,on a daily basis, but believe me being in that taxi was way more inspiring listening to the way that gentleman made it from nothing to everything.

Usually I’m conservative sharing some thoughts, but I felt sharing this one can urge many and many of us to stop, think and maybe ACT.
