What if, within your industry, people were talking about you (and your company) at the same level as people talk about Lady Gaga and Snooki? How can..
Here’s the answer in seven words: They take advantage of ALL marketing opportunities.
Whether or not you support Lady Gaga and/or Snooki; and whether or not you have been annoyed by their recent seemingly shameless marketing tactics – you can not deny this:
Lady Gaga and Snooki have practically become household names. If you have never heard of them, but you have children who are six years or older, then come out from under your rock and ask your child(ren) who are Lady Gaga and Snooki. They gladly will enlighten you. Why are we talking about Lady Gaga and Snooki? Imagine this:
You turn on the TV and there is a story on the local news about how outrageously incredible are your products and services. You, your company, and the product are mentioned in the same story. Tomorrow morning you open the local paper, turn turn the business section and there is a positive article, with pictures, about you and your product and/or service. Best of all, you didn’t know it was going to be in the paper! What if, within your industry, people were talking about you (and your company) at the same level as people talk about Lady Gaga and Snooki? It would be great – wouldn’t it? For example, on the Internet, would you like your product and/or service to be searched for on purpose rather than by accident?
You can begin by revising/updating your marketing plan, if you have one. If you don’t have one its time to get started.
Below are eleven tips to get you started on the path to making your product/service more popular.
Use a very creative eye and revise/create your marketing plan. If you are not naturally creative, then find two very creative associates (not family/friends) and have them read over your marketing plan and brainstorm ways to make it more creative.
- Peruse your financial reports and identify your highest selling product or service
- Create at least six very creative “interest peaking” expressions for that product or service
- Include key words in the above expressions/phrases
Write each article – in story format – about that product/service, using the key phrases in the title and the content of those articles. Use statistics, the benefits, and the value to the end user as part of the story based articles.
Every two months (or two weeks) release the article as if it was a major event
Place each article, as released, on your website, blog, submit-article websites, and post links to the articles on other blog sites.
Send an email broadcast about each article to your clients, associates, lists, friends, family, and on all social networking sites in which you have an account
About one week after its release, turn each article, in to a press release and submit it to media, respective associations, and clients
Do this for every article, according to the release schedule you have specified in your marketing plan.
Finally, create a two-minute video about each of the articles and submit them to the YouTube’s of the world. The video’s do not need to be fancy with all kinds of bells and whistles, but they do need have quality content. The video can be a simple as a personal message from you, about your product/service.
Does this seem daunting? Yes? Then its time for a paradigm shift. Think of it this way, who else is going to put as much time and energy in to your business, other than you.
Besides, if you believe your business is not worth putting in this kind of time and energy – you are right. However, if you believe it is worth it, then I challenge you to be the talk of your industry. Before you know it, people will be talking about your product and/or service, and searching for it on purpose. After all, its always about what you believe.
Want to get an idea of what kind of info is out there about you, your products and/or services? Its easy to do and only takes a moment. Google your product, service, and/or your name. It will give you an idea of what is out there. It will also give you an idea of what is NOT out there, which means you could be leaving money on the Internet table.
Want to get an idea of what five months of focused Internet marketing effort of will do for you using technique’s like the one I shared above? Google – Darren L Johnson – and see what you get. The proof of the steps I am sharing is in the “search engine results pudding.”
