The only variable your can control is yourself

In a world that is forever changing, as human beings we look for a sense of control & stability to make us feel safe. Discover what you can control.
A few years ago, I discovered a very powerful principle that changed my life forever and helped me in my personal life and career. The principle was so powerful yet so simple that I was pretty amazed how more people were not applying it. Many may think they are aware of it, but until they apply it and live it, they do not really know its power. The principle I refer to here is the power that each individual has within themselves and the best investment a person can do is to invest in their own personal growth. This is what successful people have been doing for decades. They know they are their own safest and highest-paid bet.
Most people have heard about the principle and will even say: “I know this! It’s logical.” However, very few apply it. Why is that? There are a few answers that come to mind. Some are too comfortable and do not want to venture into unknown territory, some do not want to do the work needed to reach there, and some think they’re already there – their ego is too high. Everyone has their own excuse. At the end of it all, there is one common factor between all excuses: they do not know their self-worth.
To know your self-worth is the key to unlocking your potential. This comes down to your mindset, which brings us back to investing in yourself to unlock that mindset which our environment and social media influences the majority of us to have: a minimum mindset. A mindset that says there is not enough for everyone, a mindset that says there is only so much for ‘you’, a mindset that tells you: you can’t have more out of life, a mindset that sets invisible boundaries in your life.
I had this mindset. I lived it. It’s only been a few years since I got rid of it and replaced it with an abundance mindset. This has drastically changed my life and created new perspectives – things that I would not have seen otherwise. When I had to stretch for half a year to lead a team at work, I genuinely did. Was it hard at times? Sure. Did I struggle sometimes? Certainly. But most importantly, did I give it my best and pull through? Absolutely YES! I saw, in all of this mess, an opportunity to be what I had the potential to be rather than stay where I was comfortable and happy.
See, I had to forgo temporary comfort and happiness to move forward to a greater good for myself, my work, and the people around me. That was the sacrifice it took and that’s what pushed me forward.
Getting rid of that mindset took some work and some effort, but it was worth every penny I have spent on my own personal development. It is a continuous journey as we never cease to learn and grow. Today, I am living my dream and life purpose of being a speaker, trainer, and coach to help others discover their true potential and lead the life they are meant to live. Take the lead on the only variable you can control; yourself. Bet on yourself!
