Taking a look at holistic coaching
Most people go about life on auto-pilot, either in an unconscious or semi-conscious way. We are mainly reacting to events instead of consciously directing and leading our lives. We go about life without an awareness of the many ways that everything is connected to the whole. And that is why our lives can easily spin out of control.
Many of us hire a life coach when we are faced with a challenge in an area of our life. We hire the coach to improve an area that is causing us stress. It could be to improve a business, life, home life, or relationship/love life.
There are traditionally many styles or approaches to coaching. One could be solution-based coaching where the coach will work with the client to get a clear vision on their desired outcome, assist them in setting clear goals and focus on the solutions that will lead them in the right direction.
Another could be a more authoritative approach where the coach tells the client what to do with little to no input from the client. The aim of the client is to learn a specific technique unbeknownst to them that will help them achieve their goals.
These traditional approaches to coaching largely overlook the importance of overcoming and addressing the inner obstacles that hold us all in limitation to greater or lesser degrees, but the holistic approach does not.
A holistic approach is an entirely different approach compared to solution-focused or autocratic approaches, in that it focuses on more of the larger picture in the client’s life, hitting on all areas of self-improvement, rather than one.
A holistic coach takes joy in clients’ uniqueness, listens closely to help them to explore their greatest joy and excitement, and motivates them to make their dreams a reality. He or she enhances clients’ abilities to access and use their key strengths and purpose to intentionally design their lives. This approach can be broadly applied to different occupations and coaching needs because it focuses on creating a whole life.
Holistic coaches believe that “everything rests in a web of interconnectedness”. That every action that we make and every decision that we have ever made have an effect on some other area of our lives and if we want to work on healing an area, we must also work on the whole.
The goal is to create a sense of fulfillment and well-being in people’s lives with this style of coaching, and there are many different kinds of people who can benefit from it.
Holistic coaching can help facilitate healing on all levels as well. These healing processes can save months or even years of frustration with overcoming obstacles.
The holistic approach also connects us with the miraculous nature of our reality, where anything is possible and miracles are happening all around us. Such transformational coaching requires us to be open, flexible learners. We need to step outside our comfort zone, which is where we are now, to do things differently and thus create different results.
If you are willing to step outside your comfort zone, do things differently and lead your life we are a phone call away.
