While we CAN NOT change the fact we all have 24 hours in a day. We CAN change our accessibility & how we control the direction of how we plan our day!
With all that’s going on do you feel a lack of direction in your productivity? Are projects taking longer to complete than you expected because you are trying to do too many things at once?
You know that feeling when you sit down to work and are just not sure what to do first. Email? Look at Asana? Answer slack messages? Respond to voice mail? Email? Oh and there’s another ping…..it’s a Skype message!
Are you over it?
Stop! Take a breath…
One of the results of the technology that allows us to stay connected to the world is how it impacts our ability to take control of our accessibility and planing our time.
While we CAN NOT change the fact we all have 24 hours in a day. We CAN change our accessibility and how we control the direction of how we plan our time each day!
Let’s be honest, if we don’t start our work day with an intentional plan it is easy to get distracted.
The best way to avoid this is to create a ‘daily check in process’ to take control of how you will direct your time, responsiveness and focus each day.
Here are 4 steps to get you started to creating your ‘Daily Check In Process’
✔️Create a checklist of all inboxes, apps and systems you need to check daily (email, slack, Trello, asana, Skype…).
✔️Approximate the length of time it will take to review each action and how much time you can devote to your daily check in process.
✔️Set a repeating ‘daily process’ appointment on your calendar and commit to showing up for your ‘daily check in process’.
✔️The magic is in the execution and follow through. Create a strategic accountability connection with a partner for a daily check in to ensure this process is working and to make improvements where needed so you are able to take control of your daily direction and process!
It is really about being intentional to find a daily communication and planning process that works best for you! Your day and time needs to be in the direction you set and not in response to others!
When you think about it… most of us are currently at home or working for 24 hours a day so there is truly not better time than now to invest in yourself and your ‘daily check in process’!
