To stay healthy and rational, you must invite balance into your life. You must redirect your thoughts & conversations to what comforts and calms you.
With so many people feeling worried and fearful about the Coronavirus, I want to be a calm, comforting voice for you during this time of uncertainty.
I plan to offer some life coaching guidance in the weeks to come in these articles, and hope that you can feel the love that is coming straight from my heart!
This week I’ve decided to write about balance. We all know that balance is important and it seems rather cliché to bring it up. However, now more than ever, I want you to strive to invite more balance into your life.
In regards to mindset, it is imperative that we balance what is being brought into our awareness!
Have you been binge watching the news?
How much of your conversations have been about the Coronavirus?
Remember, it’s difficult to manage our own thoughts around things that frighten us, let alone other people’s thoughts!
If you’re thinking, “but Tracy, I need to stay informed!”
Yes, you do.
I agree.
However, our brains have a very difficult time distinguishing between our thoughts about a circumstance and the actual facts. And once fear is triggered, our brain tells us that we need more and more information in order to stay safe.
The news is made up of other people’s thoughts. It is the job of the folks who write the news to keep you tuned in. The writers frame news stories in ways that catastrophize in order to capture your attention and incite you to want more. This is the truth of an average news day, and certainly apparent as we deal with the Coronavirus.
I was brought up to believe that intelligent people watched the daily news. And so, if you are like me, it may be hard for you to give it up, especially now. However, you have a choice about where you get your information from and how much you want to let in.
To stay informed, make a decision about what intelligence source you prefer, such as the CDC’s website, and give yourself parameters about how much time you will spend gathering facts. Then, stick to it!
Notice when your mind tells you that you need to indulge in more. And recognize it for what it is, a primal, unhealthy response to try to keep you safe.
Remember, you get to decide. Although there are so many variables that are not within your control, how much of it you let into your awareness IS within your control.
What you focus on, you create more of. This I know for sure.
So, if you are feeling anxious and stressed, let that be your signal that you are allowing too many fear-producing thoughts into your mind. You can’t think logically from a place of heightened fear.
To stay healthy and rational, you must create more balance in your life. You must redirect your thoughts and conversations to what comforts and calms you.
Read something inspirational, watch a movie that makes you laugh, practice gratitude, take a walk with nature, put on some loud music and dance. Decide to embrace life no matter what!
Certainty has always been an illusion, and so there is no reason now to stop moving forward!
Even if your daily routine has been altered due to present conditions, there are so many things within your control. This includes taking care of your body by eating well, getting enough sleep and exercising.
Life has not been cancelled!
You are unauthorized to stop working on your goals and dreams! Continue thinking about what lights you up and take action in that direction.
And if you need some help with this, connect with me and let’s talk about it.
You’ve got this my friend!
And if you need some extra support, I’ve got you!
