About Me
I retired from the nine to five world some years ago. I learned a lot along the way, about things that I did right, things I wish I’d known years ago, and things I wish I’d done a lot earlier in my career. I had two great careers along the way, the first as a software engineer and the second as a licensed clinical counselor. I wanted to continue helping clients navigate the key life transitions of career change and retirement when I retired, and completed the work needed to become a board certified life coach.
So I’ve successfully navigated my own career and retirement transitions. Now I'm helping others do the same.
When I worked with a career counselor many years ago, he used an assessment called the Strong Interest Inventory. It’s based on Holland’s theory of career personality, and I use a variant called the Self Directed Search with my career coaching clients (cost is included with the purchase of coaching). This matches you with careers that people with a similar set of preferences tend to be happy with. It provides a starting point for our discussion and planning for your career preparation.
WHAT COACHING WILL DO FOR YOU
Working with me will help you stay focused on what you need to achieve your goals and your strategy for reaching them. Coaching’s future oriented, and is all about setting goals and getting results. The process I use with clients typically looks like this:
• Assess the gap between where you are and where you want to go
• Identify implementable goals that will enable you to get there
• Discuss specific steps that will implement those goals
• Find which step or steps you need to implement first
• Provide accountability as you work the steps until done
My coaching packages include zero to four Zoom sessions per month, with communication via a messaging app called Clarityflow in between sessions to help you stay on track.
