About Me
Over 80% of leaders are open to outside feedback, yet only 30% have a coach. If every highly-paid athlete has a coach, why doesn't every leader? There's a misconception that leadership coaching is for beginners or learning soft skills. Not so.
I help leaders, in high-demand environments, get a crystal-clear vision of their future and systematically upgrade their skills in the areas of: conflict management, listening, delegation, planning and talent development. Mastering each of these skills will require breaking through the fear and head trash standing between you and results that stick. Creating Breakthrough requires you and I to 'get real' about what's holding you back.
You don't have to be isolated in a "CEO bubble" stuck wondering if you'll ever achieve your vision. Your Breakthrough can begin today.
My business partner I have created nine tools to help leaders turn their Definition of Success into a results-driven reality. You can read all about our process in the leadership book I coauthored called, "The Breakthrough: A Business Fable About Getting on the Same Page to Get Results That Stick", on Amazon.com
Mastering my nine, high-performance tools will turn teamwork breakdowns into breakthrough. You can start leading a passionate Tribe instead of lukewarm team. You will put an end to carrying your team on your back. You will stop being an overwhelmed leader, who feels no matter what you’re working on there’s something else you should be doing.
I want to help you.
I am serial entrepreneur and the cofounder of Breakthrough Leadership. I have been a business leader for nearly 20 years and a cofounder of six other internet-based startup businesses. My past consulting clients have included Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Target, NASCAR, and the NBA.
As a learner, I am always trying to demystify the leadership aspects of business.
I’m a hiker and a golfer; married for 17 years with two children.

[This program] has helped me believe I can continue some of the things I actually believed on in other areas of my life. I mentioned during my session today about my [past] wrestling coaching experience and how I needed to encourage people. I can transfer this program to help others succeed in their lives and move them forward. I am trying identify the things that are holding me back and trying to get beyond that.

Matt has excellent leadership skills; he can look ahead, define the vision, break apart the overall goal into achievable steps, and help each team member clearly understand what to do next. I would quickly recommend him to anyone looking for a director or coach and would enjoy working with him again in the future.

Matt DeYoung is a true servant leader, in the best sense of that term. He has acted as my trainer, coach, mentor, cheerleader. He recognized my strengths, made sure I knew what they were, and ensured that my strengths and my projects were a good match. I have always been impressed with his tremendous breadth of business knowledge. He is very well read and stays at the leading edge of business thought. He knows how and where to ask the right questions to get to the heart of a matter and to fully leverage all sources of insight. His success in business should speak for itself. Matt earns my highest recommendation.

Matt DeYoung is an excellent coach. He is very knowledgeable and businesslike, yet compassionate and understanding. He provided relevant homework assignments that always helped keep me focused.

Matt and I concurred on a couple of things…An experience I had when I was younger; when I competed [in sports]. I kind of got stuck in the day-to-day monotony…[I stopped building on my past success.] This program looks to me like it’s going to help me move on with my success!

“Each strategy session was like thinking out loud with a trusted leader. I got immediate action, a plan of attack, continual encouragement and challenge. I'm ready for more. Still hungry. Still growing."
