About Me

Margaret van Steenderen is a seasoned leadership coach specializing in both individual and group coaching. She focuses on enhancing leadership skills and fostering personal and professional growth, guiding clients to become more effective leaders. Her coaching approach meets people where they are, providing a judgment-free zone and keeping them focused and on track.

In addition to her coaching expertise, Margaret has over two decades of experience in Learning & Development, Project Management, and as a Director of Operations. She holds an MMBEC and MBA from Wits Business School, along with an Honors in Psychology and a BA in Information Science & Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, cum laude. Margaret is also certified in Project Management, Train the Trainer, Facilitation, and Coaching Leadership.

Margaret’s career began in IT, providing a solid foundation in precision and problem-solving. Transitioning to leading people, her journey took her from the tech scene to strategic operations, learning and development, and talent management. Her experience includes roles as Global Talent Director and Global Operations Director for Duke Corporate Education.

Margaret’s leadership philosophy emphasizes authenticity and simplicity in communication, ensuring that complex concepts are accessible and relatable. She is passionate about learning and development, believing deeply in the power of education and coaching to transform lives. Her approach integrates sustainable practices and growth mindsets, preparing leaders for today and tomorrow, and empowering them to drive positive changes that benefit both people and the environment.

Based in Skokie, Illinois, Margaret works online internationally and in person in the USA. As the founder and lead development coach of SLGM LLC, she continues to inspire and support others on their journeys of growth and development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
