About Me

Oh hi there. I'm Mallory; a Canadian-born, Melbourne-living start-up marketer turned career coach. More importantly, why the fack should you work with me to find your work happy place? Great question.

The short answer is because I'm obsessed with work. Not in the tech bro, hustle culture, rise and grind, 'sleep is for the weak' sort of way. In the 'I'm likely to spend 90,000 hours of my life doing this and absolutely refuse to have a bad time' sort of way.

I used to cry at work. A lot. Usually in the privacy of the ladies' toilet. On a few unlucky occasions, in front of uncomfortable middle aged men. It started after a change of leadership had me reporting to a man with the integrity of wet paper towel and the empathy of a mars bar.

I was miserable. But as I was on a work sponsored visa, I had to grin and bear it until my permanent residency came through. When it did, I quit so quickly I could have used the ink from the visa approval to write my resignation letter.

After that, I vowed to never be unhappy at work again. I've spent the 8 years since that job trying on companies, roles, environments, and managers to find the ideal combination for me. Now I want to help other 'refuse to be miserable' people do the same thing.

In this new era of remote work, a renewed focus on work/life balance and the death of grinning and bearing it, I believe more than ever that work doesn't have to suck. Let me show you how!
