About Me
Prior to launching Courage to Be Real Coaching, my journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Social Services from Northern Illinois University in 1987, followed by a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1991. Over the years, I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, practicing in both North Carolina and Texas for a combined total of 35 years. In January 2025, I launched Courage to Be Real Coaching, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering clients across the United States to discover and embrace their authentic selves. Through coaching, I continue to inspire individuals to overcome self-doubt and live lives aligned with their true values and passions. As a Coach to Highly Sensitive People, Neurodivergents and other individuals who are exploring their authentic selves, I begin by forming a coaching relationship where you feel heard and have the experience of being less alone. Because I also identify as an HSP, I have struggled with many of the same issues you are facing – the social challenges, the isolation, and the overwhelm. One of the most important initial steps is to identify the gifts that you as a unique individual can bring to the world. We will also explore how you can express your unique qualities comfortably and safely and share yourself with confidence, which will open up new possibilities for your life. Because individuals who don’t follow the herd have certain tendencies, such as difficulty in establishing boundaries and in saying what they feel, we look into specific actions and behaviors that may be more supportive of you in creating your desired outcomes. Along the way, you’ll acquire new tools and perspectives for handling the various situations that your trait or personality type commonly encounter. With practice, you will feel more freedom and self-assurance and develop a greater love and appreciation for yourself as a confident, creative, authentic individual.

Lisa uses her heart with her clients and is able to gently guide us into a place of success with our writing. She is remarkable at what she does and working with her has given me the confidence I needed to finish my dissertation. I so appreciate her kind, gentle way of helping me see me. Lisa truly has a gift in coaching writers!

Lisa is a well-trained, highly effective therapist who really cares about her clients. She works particularly well with highly sensitive people (HSPs) and codependency issues, and she is skilled in doing deep, meaningful work in ways that help her clients move forward with a renewed sense of clarity. I have full confidence in her abilities and never hesitate to refer to her.

Lisa has the unique ability to help people find their path in life, or if they're already on their path but stumbling, to find their way back. She is optimistic, supportive and a born problem solver. I've seen her work with many teams and, in each case, was a leader who inspired everyone on her team. I highly recommend her for any project or pursuit she is interested in or involved with.
