From Military Leadership to Personal Growth Coaching
Hi, I’m Casper, a personal development and leadership coach with over 25 years of experience. My coaching journey began after retiring from the U.S. Army, where I served as a leader, advisor, coach, and mentor. Since then, I’ve coached over 360 individuals, including military personnel, veterans, and first responders, helping them navigate transitions, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.
In the military, I saw how resilience, strategic thinking, and personal development could transform people, even in the toughest environments. After transitioning to civilian life, I realized my calling was to help others unlock their potential. I now guide individuals through personal discovery, leadership development, and meaningful transitions using the same principles of adaptability and empathy that shaped my military career.

While LaSchwann and I connected in a peer setting, it was immediately apparent that his authenticity and impeccable communication skills allowed for a much deeper connection that has contributed a mentoring/ coaching companionship. Through this relationship, I have been able to challenge long help belief systems and shift perspective, allowing for a more solution focused approach to life and the struggles it offers. I am grateful for our relationship and will continue to seek his mentorship.

LaSchwann Killens has made significant impacts on my career for a number of years. In 2007 I was a newly promoted senior level leader in charge of a rather sizeable group of professionals. I was not adequately prepared for my new role and level of responsibility. LaSchwann was able to help me identify several shortcomings I was able to address and was always available to continue coaching me as I grew into my new role. He would always provide me constructive feedback and as I mastered skills, he would help me learn new ways to improve myself and my team. I have carried with me the many lessons he taught me and they have been instrumental in my continued success. Today I am fortunate enough to be a leader and advisor in academic environments that have world-wide impacts. To this day LaSchwann continues to coach me and provides me new lenses to view challenges and new thinking models to provide appropriate and feasible solutions to problems. He is a phenomenal coach and I couldn't think of anyone better suited to helping others continue their growth and achieve their goals!

Back in 2009 we were deployed to Iraq. I went through a very difficult time with a traumatic personal experience. Chief (Casper) was extremely supportive. He gave me guidance and a shoulder to cry on while also giving me the space to cope and seek counseling to help through my situation. He's always been calm and collected and has constantly made himself readily available for anyone under his charge that needed guidance or advice.

LaSchwann throughout the time that we have known each other while he was in uniform and out has always been a valuable mentor and leader for any unit or company he has been apart of. While in uniform, LaSchwann, mentored countless junior imagery analysts to become better and more knowledgeable in their careers. He was always available to help his team accomplish the mission. LaSchwann was always there to help his soldiers regardless of whether they had a military issue or a family issue. When LaSchwann retired from the army immediately came to work at the school house where the army trains new soldiers to qualify to be imagery analysts. During that time, even though he was no longer in uniform, he still provided the same level of care as a mentor and coach. Coaching and mentoring are in LaSchwanns blood. He has a gift.

10/5 stars. LaSchwann helped me sort through two of the most challenging times in my life: struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and navigating a major change in career fields. One thing I highly value with LaSchwann is is brevity and clarity. He doesn't pull punches and will tell you the hard facts others might water down. Absolutely recommend his services and would seek them out again in the future.

In 2021 and 2022, I had the privilege of being coached by LaSchwann Killens in the Warrior Path program at Boulder Crest Arizona. This program is designed to help veterans like myself work through PTSD and strive for post-traumatic growth. LaSchwann was an amazing coach throughout the program. He was caring, peaceful, and assertive, exactly the kind of presence needed in this work. He created a safe space for us to be vulnerable and challenge ourselves. One moment in particular stands out and has stuck with me ever since. We were doing a blindfolded archery exercise, and I had a rock under my foot causing me discomfort. Yet, I said nothing. After the exercise, LaSchwann began his coaching debrief. At the end, he turned to me and said, "Now, when were you going to say something about that rock under your foot?" He then went on to explain the importance of advocating for myself and communicating my needs, even in seemingly small situations. That lesson has resonated with me every single day. LaSchwann's ability to identify that subtle moment and turn it into a powerful teaching point is a testament to his coaching skills. He has a knack for recognizing those unspoken struggles and helping you find your voice. I highly recommend LaSchwann as a coach to any veteran seeking support and growth. He embodies the qualities of an exceptional mentor and truly cares about the well-being of those he serves.

Before working with LaSchwann with his program I had less focus on goals. I am able to focus more and my spouse has recognized some of the changes I am making for the better, based on my personal goals. Going into our initial sessions I was unfamiliar with the coaching process and LaSchwann was able to explain it and add clarity making me more comfortable. LaSchwann's style of coaching was very helpful in ensuring I did not feel judged during our time together. Having accommodations with developing goals to focus on while building structure and routine along with our weekly sessions. An unexpected benefit was completing a goal I hadn't expected to complete: the momentum from other established and completed goals allowed me to the space and energy to focus on what I would like rather than what utility I can bring, and celebrate the win. Focusing on improving one thing, led to improvement of other things. After working with LaSchwann it is easier to engage and voice my ideas, wants, and needs with my loved ones. I thank LaSchwann for this coaching experience.
A very satisfied client!
