About Me
Co-Active Coach, Art Historian, Associate Professor.
My whole-person approach to coaching is rooted in my experience as an art history professor at a liberal arts college, where I have navigated the tenure track, taught my heart out, published a book, served as a campus leader, and become a mom.
I love working with teachers, creatives, academics, non-profit folks, museum professionals, and others who invest so much of ourselves in our work and who care so much about contributing to social justice and to making the world a better place. At the same time, we often struggle with self-doubt, boundaries, and burnout. As your coach, I meet you wherever you are in your journey. You can expect me to listen with empathy and gently challenge you to be intentional and fully present in your life. I’ll help you practice slowing down, re-connecting to your full self, reclaiming what you love about your work, shifting your relationship to time, and getting the rest you want.

I came to Karen feeling torn between numerous professional priorities. I deeply appreciate how she helps me recognize what brings me the most joy in my work and urges me to use that as a basis for decision making. She's also quick to identify and celebrate achievements that I might otherwise overlook. Karen creates an atmosphere in sessions that cultivates my own insight. It has been exciting to see the epiphanies that emerge for me in the middle of our conversations. I also appreciate how she scales from addressing my overarching vision and goals to topics like time use and how I start my day. In addition to creating affirming moments, Karen doesn't shy away from helping me identify misplaced expectations and blind spots that are holding me back and challenging me to take those on. She actively urges me to give voice to my own values and to consider a full range of options when facing demands from multiple sources. Of all my impressions from working with Karen, perhaps the greatest is that she deeply wants me to be well and is committed to doing all she can to support that. Thank you, Karen, for a great coaching experience!

I deeply appreciated the sessions I had with Karen and noticeably benefited from reframing my goals, my reflections on my use of time, and my relationship with the concept of rest. My biggest change was a mindset shift that allowed me to not only dream about goals, but actually move towards them, even if it was in small steps. My biggest challenge was quieting the obligatory shoulds that form my endless to do lists. Reclaiming this time to work towards my goals remains easier said than done, but I now understand how I can reclaim power here. I never would have gained consciousness of all these goals and challenges without Karens supportive and insightful guidance. Being coached by Karen was inspiring and motivating. I benefited personally and professionally from her sessions. She has a natural talent at listening in a way that helped me discover and interpret feelings/issues that I didnt even realize I was having! (Revenge bedtime procrastination!) And I was challenged in the best possible ways to answer the questions that were both hard and indulgent to think about (comfy chair exercise). The Career Advisor in me couldnt help but notice the energy and ease Karen has for this work. I felt very honored as one of the recipients of Karens time, and happy for all the others that get to experience her intuitive guidance. I recommend following her Instagram posts and stories, for timely reminders, tips, and relatable advice that encourages accountability with yourself.
