About Me

I started my life as the helper in my family - a lot of us started that way. I ended up choosing the official helping pathway, and received my Doctorate in Psychology, then pivoted to getting trained as a Life Coach.

My time as a Psychologist was meaningful and fulfilling. I spent 25 years dedicating myself to the advancement of both clients and students. My orientation as a psychologist was THE CLIENT KNOWS THE MOST about him or herself. I was the expert of the clinical interventions, but the client was always the expert of himself. That is how I approach coaching as well.

Much of my career was spent training and supervising new therapists. The most enriching work environment was in a drug treatment facility. It required stamina and confidence, since the people being served had a variety of physical and emotional needs. I trained new therapists who were being asked to anchor people with the most challenging life circumstances. This is when I was born as a coach – I offered education and support, but in the end, my students had to stand on their own. The work to be done was by the trainee. In some ways, coaching clients are trainees, but trainees of their own lives.

I have also had many personal experiences that inform my coaching practice. I have endured severe hardships and worked hard to process those times in my life. Collaborating with empathic helpers shaped my understanding of myself, of how I cope, how I endure challenges. I believe personal challenges have only deepened my ability to help others endure and heal. My philosophy about coaching is an outgrowth of who I was as a therapist. I helped people heal, and am now someone who steers people to their next healthy phase.
