About Me
Life often puts you into situations which throw you into the frying pan, then once you’re out you’re into the fire.
My own life experiences have very much echoed this. On July 4th 2020 in the height of the Covid lockdown I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. That’s something no one should have to hear, much less when you are only 28 years old. It proved to be the first of a series of challenges over the following years. I spent around 6 months of Covid in strict quarantine whilst I underwent chemotherapy. During this time the only real human contact I was allowed was with the nurses at the chemotherapy clinic. Thankfully I was released back into the wild once I had completed my 12 rounds of treatment. Since then it has been a rollercoaster of surgeries, further diagnosis and more chemotherapy. Nothing that a steady head and a calm attitude can't deal with.
Mental and physical endurance challenges is something I’ve always enjoyed. My positive mindset around physical challenges has enabled me to push myself to my limits, all whilst raising money for a number of charities over the years.
My grandfather was my inspiration for long distance running, he himself mastered his fair share of marathons. My appetite for adventure culminated in running the Paris marathons followed by the Wadi Rum Ultra (see below). This still stands as the jewel in my crown, this was 6 marathons over 5 days under the beating desert sun in Jordan’s Wadi Rum. Alongside two friends who were my fellow trailblazers, we managed to raise £17,000 for Young Minds charity.
Coaching my mindset to becoming comfortable in the uncomfortable helped set the stage for my frame of mind when I have had to fight cancer over the past few years.
