About Me

In August of 2021, a few weeks before my 29th birthday, and only a month until I was set to start graduate school, I stumbled on a video explaining how ADHD looks in women and those who were socialized as such when they were growing up. After many hours of research over several days, I realized that I had undiagnosed ADHD. A few months later, a similar realization happened when I learned that my autistic side had been hiding amongst my hitherto-unchecked ADHD traits.

Autism, ADHD, and neurodivergence quickly joined my ever-growing list of special interests. I started learning everything and anything I could, meanwhile still on the path towards becoming a therapist. I began to recognize my traits more and more each day, allowed myself the freedom to do the “weird” things I’d been too afraid of before, and, slowly but surely, I relearned what it meant to be me.

I started Jes Diverges Coaching to help others achieve what I’ve been able to. After a lifetime of blaming myself for “not trying hard enough” and attempting to convince myself that if I just fixed the right part of me, I could have the life I wanted, it turned out that the only part of me that needed fixing was the part that told me that I needed to change.

Instead, I shifted my focus to changing and adding things in my environment that made sense for me and what I needed. I began to give myself the attention that I had only ever given to other people. And I stopped forcing myself to work hard just because society would have you believe that work is only valuable if it’s “difficult.” Once I started implementing these accommodations into my daily life, I finally found that spark that had been missing since before I can even remember.
