About Me
Hussein Salama is a coach who leverages his long experience at leading technology companies to help his clients discover their passions and long-term objectives and devise plans to rise up to their true potential while balancing their work and life priorities and aligning their personal objectives with the corporate ones. Hussein has extensive experience building and growing product organizations. Most recently, Hussein spent the last 14 years at Microsoft as the director of its Egypt Development Center. His organization of 200+ scientists, engineers, designers and product managers owned and co-owned state-of-the-art cloud-based AI services in the domains of Language and speech processing. Hussein was responsible for setting up his organization for long-term success, by pursuing opportunities to maximize the impact of his teams, and for enabling his people to perform at their best by striking the delicate balance between “freedom to innovate” and “focus on delivery.”
Prior to joining Microsoft, Hussein founded Citex Software, a startup that built the world’s first open-source mobile advertising platform. While at Citex Software, Hussein helped incubate a few early-stage startups. Most notable is Blue Kai which was acquired by Oracle. Before that, Hussein was the Chief Operating Officer of SySDSoft, an Egyptian startup that was acquired by Intel. In 2005, Hussein co-founded Digital Networked Advertising, Egypt’s first digital signage network. Hussein started his professional career in 1996 at Cisco Systems in San Jose, California.
In 2007 and 2008, Hussein was an Adjunct Lecturer at Cairo University, He currently serves on the Advisory Boards of several universities.
Hussein received a PhD in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from San Jose State University, California.
