As your small business grows, so must your vision and structure.
Most entrepreneurs simply mature beyond their original dream and are left questioning, where did the passion and enjoyment go?
As a coach with over 22 years of experience in small business, I have seen many ask themselves this question.
I spent the first part of my coaching and counselling career working with youth, adults and people with disabilities through various professional and paraprofessional organizations. With a diploma in addictions counselling, I came to realize I connected best with those individuals who were focused on what they wanted to create, not what they were looking to maintain. Small business owners who were passionate about manifesting their dreams and living a life that they defined as successful, were the people I wanted to be influenced by and build my life around. So I built my first small business, which failed. Then the second, which failed. Then the third… taking the dreams and visions people have for their homes and making them a reality.
As a contractor of 18 years working directly with select tradesmen who are not only passionate about what they do, but also how they do it, my team and I have watched intently as our fellow trades have both built their businesses and in some cases, even lost them. Through such interactions we have provided many small business owners one on one coaching and facilitated a variety of mastermind groups. Additionally, we have trained and coached some of our own employees through our renovation business in the areas of quoting, marketing, invoicing, and building their own small businesses. Transferring them from an employee position to a sub-trade, while empowering them as they build their own clientele and step out on their own, into their own businesses.
As a father of four who is passionate about self development, health, and fitness, and has been married for over 23 years to my wife- who works full time alongside me in our business- I certainly know all about the balance between family life and business life.
