About Me
I am a coach and a healer. My coaching is a blend of science and miracles.
Using research-based strategies, I help clients figure out what they truly want, what's blocking them from achieving their big goal, and what small, easy steps they can take, starting today, to get around those barriers and reach the prize.
Through my coaching, clients come to understand their values, their motivators, and their demotivators; their personal strengths; the resources they have access to. Drawing from these insights, we build short, mid- and long-term goals, and begin the process of kicking down doors and winning impossible prizes.
The miracle stuff is harder to quantify. It's in my deep, empathetic listening; my sensing of words that are thought, but not said. It's in my understanding of my clients' true nature; my ability to hold up a mirror and show clients their true, pure self, with the muck of society's perceptions scrubbed off. It's in my unfiltered enthusiasm and belief in my clients' greatest wishes, and their ability to reach them.
I knew, at age thirteen, what my mission was in life. I was a broken kid, abused and alone, living at a homeless shelter for teens. The staff at the shelter was empathetic and respectful, while also setting boundaries to help us grow. The shelter staff set me on the path of healing. In them, I saw my future self: a grownup who deeply cares about, respects, and supports struggling young people.
After earning my master's degree in education, I spent 17 years teaching English, special education, and English as a second language in high schools across the country (translation: I totally understand the pressures of high school!). I started life coaching in 2009. I am proud to say I trained as a coach with Youth Coaching Institute, and am an ICF certified life coach.
If you seek a coach who deeply listens and cares, one with whom you can laugh, cry, AND smash through personal barriers, let's talk.

My daughter has been in therapy since she was five. By senior year she was in therapy overload…but she still needed guidance through her struggles. Then we met Cyndy Etler. Here was someone who had struggled like my daughter in high school, then spent years teaching and relating to teens. Here was someone who actually, factually…understood. My daughter was able to open up and accept guidance from Cyndy, because she felt she was talking to a friend—an objective friend with new perspectives. Coaching with Cyndy was far more beneficial than the therapists, most offering the same feedback from the same textbooks. Coaching with Cyndy was real help for real life.

My husband and I have seen a huge difference in our son, and can only attribute it to the work that Cyndy did with him. When we visit family, they too have noticed a difference in him, especially his two grandmas, who know about his struggles. We all thank Cyndy for the work that she does!

My son was feeling trapped and down, but now he’s decided to go to a tech school for auto mechanics and graphic design. He is so excited (as is his mama!). Cyndy’s assistance gave him the tools he needed to get out of feeling trapped, and take a purposeful step into his future.
