About Me

Growing up in and out of the foster care system was a very heart-wrenching and traumatic experience. I have every excuse in the book to throw in the towel, to say I can't do it. After experiencing foster care, abuse, neglect, trauma, and rage, I defied all the odds that were stacked against me. How did I do this? I learned that I am worth something. Self-worth is the foundation of our ability to believe in ourselves. I came out of the foster care system angry and broken. My path to happiness and success began with self-awareness. Self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotion. I had to work to understand what I could and couldn't control. After recognizing what I had the power to change in my life, it was so much easier to move forward. The importance of building self-awareness is the parallel ability to make changes in the thoughts and interpretations you make in your mind. When you change the interpretations in your mind you can change your emotions. As a result, you can achieve heightened Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is an important factor in achieving success.
