About Me

Allan Smith helps people achieve their dreams, big and small. His compassionate, supportive, yet challenging nature motivates people to break free of that stuck place with courageous moves that really affect their lives.

Allan learned compassion, problem-solving and determination from his parents, who both worked and who held a high standard for doing the right thing and helping others.

Along with formal clinical training in motivation and learning, interpersonal relationships and group dynamics, Allan has developed a keen understanding of issues and the complexity of relationships, whether with oneself, at work, or with our partners. How we view and frame our experiences either helps us or hinders us. If you are here, you may be suffering from a terrible relationship, a dead-end career, or habits or thinking that prevent you from moving forward. How you view and experience these things happening around you may be as much of a problem as the actual people or events. We can't always change the people or institutions around us, but we can learn new skills and how to reframe problems, and in the process discover strengths we never knew we had.

Allan has coached for decades while also achieving over twenty-five years of business success. He founded companies that employed hundreds of professionals, and later served as CEO for healthcare companies before focusing exclusively on coaching others. In 1982, he was the first non-person of color hired to work in Diversity at a Fortune 500 corporation after researching how to help integrate a major urban school district and he has served on several non-profit boards. His ability to solve difficult problems and help others is truly remarkable.

Long after his M.A. and doctoral studies in organizational psychology, Allan became a coach to be more effective at helping individuals solve personal and career issues. He loves helping people and looks forward to every session.
