About Me

My name is Adela, aka the Love Doctress, and I offer advice on dating, breakups, and relationships to couples and individuals, men and women. I am friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about relationships and about helping people make the most out of their relationships with their loved ones.

MY APPROACH combines the most recent scientific study of close relationships with elements from life coaching, solution-focussed therapy, attachment theory, and cognitive and behavioural therapy. It is based on the following set of beliefs:

1) that relationships are important; 2) that YOU hold the answers to all your concerns and it is my job to help you figure out what these answers are; and 3) that by small changes in your thoughts, communication patterns, and behaviours, you can improve the success of your relationships.

I believe strongly that happiness is dependent on two factors: staying true to oneself and having good relationships. Through reflection, open communication, and small, manageable changes to your thoughts and behaviours, I can help you find the right balance between independence and relationships.

MY QUALIFICATIONS include a PhD in Social/Health Psychology with a concentration in Close Relationships from Stony Brook University, New York.

I am also a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society in the UK, which is ‘the benchmark of professional recognition for psychologists and reflects the highest standards of psychological knowledge and expertise’.

I have been trained in life coaching, Rational-Emotive-Behavioural Therapy, and I am a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies. I also have more than twelve years direct experience of working with families and children, following the highest standards of good research practice and confidentiality.
