What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
I want to identify for myself my next career move that is a better fit for me, while still maintaining security as a breadwinner for my household.
Tell us about yourself.
I have been working at the same non-profit healthcare organization since 2012. I fell upon the role when I needed to find a job in the NYC area and was hired as a data analyst. I steadily moved up in the organization as manager and then director of data science. I never really identified myself as a data scientist because data science didn't exist when I was in school, and I had only basic proficiency in the data science tech stack. I always said that "I don't do data science; I manage data scientists." I was fortunate to have been able to hire up a stellar team of data scientists who do quality work. Last July I was promoted to a VP role, and was asked to lead a new team at the organization that is in charge of the clinical systems (electronic medical record systems, etc) at our organization. I understood this role to be a part of an transformational change within the organization to improve the overall quality of our systems and that I was taking over a team that has historically underperformed, but I am a mess in this role and have been miserable. I've always been lucky to have had promotions offered to me at this organization but I've never taken the time to understand what type of role is a good fit for my skills and interests. I need help even defining what my skills are so that I can figure out what to focus my job search on. However, I am also the breadwinner in our household and I need to ensure that I maintain the financial (and health insurance) security for my family.
