Being A Better Human
As a chocoholic of epic proportions and lover of youthful hijinks, the Hallowe’en season is a favourite for me. After collecting costumes, planning pumpkin carving and eating fistfuls of tiny chocolate bars, could I get any happier?
Research shows that when we spend on others, our own happiness increases. We are social animals, and almost anything we do to improve the connections in our lives will increase our happiness. And so #RandomActsofCandy was born.
A Random Act of Candy
In the early hours of this morning, Noomii.com co-founder, Stephan Wiedner and his family were rousted by a ringing doorbell, pumpkin full of candy (and apples) and this over-caffeinated coach. Once they got past the initial alarm, there was delight, a proud display of costumes and ideas about how to perform another #RandomActofCandy, starting with a snoozing Grandma. I left Casa Wiedner with a big smile and a giggle at the noise I was leaving behind.
How Sweet Can the Next 7 Days Be?
Your task is simple: pick up a treat (candy, or fruit…nature’s candy) and give it away! It might be to your best friend, your workmates, or maybe even a bunch of strangers at the bus stop.
Whoever it is, you’ll both feel the sweet sugar high of happiness when you surprise and delight with an unexpected Random Act of Candy.
Which brings us to the special twist: after you sugar-bomb, we want you to recommend that your friend/workmate/group of strangers perform a Random Act of Candy. Imagine the chain of candy spreading like falling dominoes. Who knows how far your initial Random Act of Candy might spread! And after all, isn’t that what candy is for?
Be Super Sweet and Win!
Take a photo of your #RandomActsofCandy and using that hashtag mention it on social media: facebook, twitter or instagram. We will find you by the magic of hashtags and on October 31, we will select a winner to receive a treat from us!
What a great and fun idea! Love it. Going to try my best to make #Random Acts of Candy happen! Thanks!
What a neat idea!!! I am going to put out candy right now to feed the people who come by our apt.door. No trick or treat night for me. It will be from now until Halloween!!!! Thanks, Stephan
Love it! Love it! Love it! Will definitely pass this on! Random Acts of Candy will happen and pass forward at 1 or 2 of Montreal’s hospitals as well as at the MUHC Women’s Health Initiative meeting on Tuesday! Happy Random Acts of Candy week to all!
