About the Un-Self-Help Blog
Fast cash advance loans online. <p>Welcome to the Un-Self-Help blog!</p><!–mep-nl–><p>What is un-self-help, you ask? If you’re like a lot of people, you’ve probably read, seen, and heard a lot about what makes for a good life. There’s a million blogs, articles, books, and videos out there claiming to help you feel better, life longer, find your dream career, and make tons of money.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>Some of it is good. Some, not so much.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>That’s where we come in. We’re a group of people who are passionate about helping you live a better life. Our blog is all about those things we all want – better relationships, more fulfillment, and great health. But we do it from an evidence-based perspective. There’s a lot of fluff out there in the “self-help” world. And we’re here to cut through that fluff and tell you what really, truly works.</p><!–mep-nl–><h2>Our mission is simple: learn to be better humans.</h2><!–mep-nl–><p>Guiding us in our efforts, are three core principles</p><!–mep-nl–><ol><!–mep-nl–><li><strong>Science is King. </strong>We’re passionate about scientifically proven techniques. We scour the latest research in positive psychology, fitness, nutrition, and more, to find what truly makes life as good as it can be.</li><!–mep-nl–><li><strong>Take Action. </strong>All our advice is action-oriented. You can spend a lot of time reading self-help books and not actually doing anything. We give you clear, easy-to-follow instructions on how to implement the principles we describe.</li><!–mep-nl–><li><strong>Other People Matter.</strong> This is the phrase made famous by the late, great psychologist Chris Peterson, who spent his life studying what makes people truly happy. His main conclusion? Happiness requires other people. Whether you’re getting help from others or doing them a favor yourself, other people are critical to a successful, happy life. This is, in fact, why we called our blog the “Un-self help” blog. It’s an acknowledgement the traditional “self-help” is an oxymoron. Just like a doctor can’t treat herself, “self-help” is best done in conjunction with others. Not only is it more effective, it’s a lot more fun, too!</li><!–mep-nl–></ol><!–mep-nl–><p>Rolling it all together, we are an evidence-based, action-taking, other-focused blog. But who the heck is gonna remember that? It’s called the <em>Un-Self-Help Blog</em> for short.</p><!–mep-nl–><h2>Hello, my name is Stephan Wiedner and I’m a selfhelp junkie</h2><!–mep-nl–><p>I have an admission to make.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>Back a few years ago, when I first started Noomii (and now as the editor of this blog), it was really just a big ploy to feed my addiction.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>I wanted to learn the <em>Success Principles</em> to go from <em>Good to Great</em>. I wanted to master the <em>7 Habits of Highly Effective People</em>. I needed to <em>Have Friends and Influence Others</em>.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>Could I really be a <em>1-Minute Manager</em>? Or have a <em>4-Hour Workweek</em>? Maybe I need to eat more <em>Chicken Soup for my Soul</em>. Is that what they mean by <em>Tribal Leadership</em>?</p><!–mep-nl–><p>I was asking myself: “What is … <em>The Secret</em>?”</p><!–mep-nl–><p>Okay, enough of the self-help book references. In all seriousness, I have an addiction … um, I mean … keen interest for discovering and understanding how we, as human beings, can be better. I don’t profess to have all the answers to all your life challenges, but together, with my team of <a title=”Write for the Un-Self-Help Blog” href=”http://www.noomii.com/blog/write-for-us”>amazing writers and contributors</a>, we’ll take a pretty good crack at it.</p><!–mep-nl–><p>For starters, take a look at the first infographic we put together about <a title=”Happiness & Money [Infographic]” href=”http://www.noomii.com/blog/4863-happiness-money-infographic”>Money and Happiness</a>.</p><!–mep-nl–><div class=”subscription-box”><!–mep-nl–><h3>Want to be notified of new content? When you say you’re looking for writers for your blog – what’s the quid pro quo? Do you pay or are your writers grateful for the exposure? (In addition to coaching and mediating I’m a professional writer as well as a stickler for clarity before committing.)
Really fun and revealing! Right up my alley!
Hi Stephan,
I’d love to contribute. I don’t have a title yet to pitch, but will. In addition, I’ve spotted a few spelling errors/typos in the above text. i’d love to be a proofreader for you. I’m excellent. If I can say that, about myself. I have a few references too. Darlene Huff being one of them, who is the person who told me about Noomii.
Hoping to be able to contribute in both ways 🙂
Thanks,
Angela
Looking forward to your ideas @Di!
I would very much like to contribute. I publish an article on a leadership blog at least three times per week and have been doing that for over a year. I love this part of the process. It is hard to put something in writing that you don’t follow yourself. Looking forward to the experience.
Looking forward to having you on board, @Calvin!
Hi Stephan,
I love your concept. I have been reading “The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor. All his stats and experiments are fascinating. Unlike Colin, I do not write on a regular basis – not yet! I am just starting the writing portion of my career and will be writing articles on a more regular basis. I will be posting my very first article to my page on Noomii shortly. Please let me know how I can contribute.
Adonica
Hi Adonica,
Glad you like the concept. I’m just working on two pieces that mention Shawn Achor so it’s cool that you are currently reading his book. Small world isn’t it.
Keep plugging away. Kaizen.
Stephan
I propose that your blog entries also get listed at LinkedIn, so that anyone following the company there would see them in their daily stream
…such would also give you & noomii extra visibility to a key audience for the business coaching and executive coaching.
Have a great day
Marek
Great suggestion @marek! We have set our Linkedin heads on straight + are sharing our posts over there too!
