The last thing you want is a retirement fail. What if you KNEW your retirement would rock?
A successful retirement is often portrayed as an idyllic time where you create cherished moments with loved ones and have the freedom to go where you want, when you want. Planning for this stage of life often revolves around ensuring we have sufficient funds in place to keep us in the lifestyle we want.
But what really happens in retirement is everyday life. Sprinkled with all of life’s usual ups and downs. And if you are not prepared for the mental, social, spiritual and physical aspects of retirement, you can end up regretting your decision to retire and have a case of the Retirement Blues. When this happens when you spend the first few, valuable years of retirement:
- trying to figure out who you are now and what your purpose is
- second guessing yourself
- worrying about something that threatens your vision of retirement
- feeling overwhelmed by the demands of your adult kids and grandkids
- missing your work life
- wondering if you and your spouse are on the same page
I’m here to tell you that it does not have to be this way.
The key to a successful retirement is to take the time and energy right now to develop a plan for the non-financial aspects of your life. By doing so, you will take a major step in reducing, or altogether avoiding, some of the common complaints about retirement. Whether you have just retired or are still a few years away, retirement coaching and planning can help you.
My Coach Rx for a successful retirement is straightforward: dream, plan and then enjoy. Repeat as necessary.
